treking into the desolation wilderness
the past weekend we spent a night by twin lakes in the desolation wilderness. it's a 7m out and back hike if the entrance to the wrights lake is open. if not, it is an extra mile to the twin lakes trailhead but it's a beautiful hike along side wrights lake. we started around around 7,000ft and camp around 8,000ft. there's kind of two parts to twin lakes. the upper portion is around a bend and has less tree coverage. i highly recommend camping by the lower portion since there were more trees to help block wind. apparently there are trouts in the lake but we got a bit lazy to set up. behind twin lakes, there's island lake. truly an amazing trip... we will definitely be back!
